The Government of Montserrat has been notified by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), that a grant of fourteen million, four hundred thousand pounds has been approved for the Montserrat Port Development Project.

The grant from the Special Funds Resources of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), was allocated from funds provided by the United Kingdom, through the Department for International Development (DFID) to CDB under the United Kingdom Caribbean Infrastructure Partnership Fund. It is seen as being critical for Montserrat’s recovery, economic growth and sustainability.

It is expected that the first disbursement of the Grant will be made in June 2018 and the grant is expected to be fully disbursed by May 2021.
The project will be implemented by the Ministry of Communications, Works and Labour (MCWL) through the Public Works Department (PWD).

In March 2017, The Government of Montserrat (GOM) applied to the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) for a grant to assist in financing a project for the development of the port at Little Bay under the United Kingdom Caribbean Infrastructure Partnership Fund (UKCW). The capital project proposed was initiated by the recommendations of a Specialist Port Engineering Advisory Appraisal Report (SPEAAR) funded by the Department for International Development (DFID) and completed in the first quarter of 2017.
