National Trust stalwart passes

SALEM – A former stalwart within the Montserrat National Trust passed away in the United States on Monday. Mr. Edward ‘Ted’ Laroussini of Old Town died in Louisiana, USA at the age of 94.

While he lived on Montserrat he was an active member of the National Trust and served as Curator of the Museum at Richmond Hill. He was also one of the driving forces behind the relocation of the Montserrat National Trust from Plymouth to its current site in Salem.

Mr. Laroussini also ran the Pool Cooperative of Montserrat for many years.

He and his wife Rita lived for many years in Old Town but moved to Louisiana in 1997 at the height of volcanic activity on Montserrat.

He leaves behind many friends in Montserrat including the members of the Montserrat National Trust and his home state of Louisiana.
