Montserrat is an ever
 present reminder
of the unique qualities that make island living wonderful.
In recent years the reawakening of the
Soufriere Hills Volcano has brought to bear how closely the people
of Montserrat live with nature.
We have had to reconsider the value
of our land as more than 50% of our island is now inaccessible, and
the importance of our agriculture. Many residents, keep backyard
gardens, where fruits and vegetables grow in abundance in our
fertile soil. We no longer take for granted the ability to enjoy
cool island breezes from our mountainous vantage points, and the
tranquil trails which showcase our indigenous animals, flora and
fauna.
