To redevelop agriculture and the other natural resource sectors
in the north, using traditional and emerging techniques and
technologies, to satisfy local demand and to target specific
markets for export of fresh commodities and value added
products. Thereby promoting food security, sustainable
livelihoods and foreign exchange earnings and savings.
MISSION STATEMENT
To optimise the
economic, social and environmental goods and services derived
from the natural resources and environmental sectors, on a
sustainable basis, in support of national development.
The following corporate goals of the Department of Agriculture
provide the framework within which the Department can meet its
vision and mission statements.

To enhance the Department’s efficiency and
effectiveness.

To enhance public awareness of the
agriculture and fishery sectors throughout the community.

To develop a clear strategic direction for
the sustainable management and growth of the agricultural
and fisheries sectors.
