community, regional and international agencies.
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the DU is to advise, monitor, and ensure
implementation of Government’s economic, trade and business
development policies and plans, and to mobilize, advise on the
management, and where appropriate manage, aid resources and
local budgets for the public and private sectors.
In line with
this, the statistics department aims to coordinate the
collection, processing, analysis and publication of social and
economic statistical information as this relates to Montserrat’s
economy and its inhabitants. This information will be utilized
by the development planning department along with sectoral plans
to produce strategic and holistic national development plans.
The trade department aims to encourage and facilitate the
development of trade locally, regionally and internationally in
accordance with Government’s policies and plans for economic
growth.
The
Development Unit has to respond to the National Vision of
Montserrat and seeks to support the achievement of all six of
the strategic objectives of the Sustainable Development Plan.
In this regard the following are the corporate goals of the
Development Unit:
