Emergency
Department
The Emergency Department’s vision is “to save lives and reducing
the negative impact of disasters on the residents of
Montserrat.”
MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission is to develop national policies that foster and
promote the mitigation of, preparedness for, response to and
recovery from emergencies and disasters in Montserrat.
The following corporate goals of the Emergency Department
provide the framework within which the Government’s emergency
strategy is implemented. The Emergency Department is guided by
the five (5) broad objectives as listed below:

To enhance the capacity of the Emergency
Department and other Response Agencies to plan for and
respond to natural and technological hazards and disasters.

To enhance community-based emergency response
organizations.

To revise, update and reprint major hazard
plans.

To develop the department as a centre of
management expertise in natural hazards.

To enhance public awareness of disaster
mitigation, preparedness and response activities through an
education and information campaign.
