COLIN FERGUS APPOINTED NEW PERMANENT SECRETARY FOR THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS

Mr Colin Fergus has been appointed to the post of Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports, effective Monday March 12th, 2018.

Mr. Fergus brings to the post a wealth of experience in the public sector, having worked at the Treasury Department, the Department of Information Technology and E-Government Services (DITES), Public Service Reform Unit (PSRU), Office of the Premier and the Ministry of Finance and Economic Management.

Mr Fergus has over nineteen (19) nineteen years of experience in the public sector.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and two (2) Masters Degrees; the first in Management Information Technology and the other in Economics and Finance for Development. Additionally, he also possesses two (2) post graduate certificates in Project Planning Appraisal and Management and also in Finance.

Mr Fergus is a Lieutenant in the Royal Montserrat Defence Force (RMDF) and the present Commanding Officer of the Montserrat Secondary School (MSS) Cadet Corp.

He would like to thank his family, friends and co-workers for their support and encouragement.

Mr Fergus said he is looking forward to the new challenge as the Permanent Secretary within the Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports and to help smooth the path for the upcoming generation.
