PREMIER ROMEO DISCUSSES PRIORITY PROJECTS WITH UK MPs

On Monday, February 26, the Honourable Premier and Minister of Finance, Donaldson Romeo met and held discussions with Member of Parliament and Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Montserrat, Mr. Andrew Rosindell, about the current projects on Montserrat.

During the meeting, Mr. Rosindell was briefed on the progress of current projects and the opportunities which exist for Montserrat.  Mr. Rosindell offered the continued support of his office whenever required. The Premier also discussed the meetings held in Brussels on the occasion of the European Union Overseas Countries and Territories European Union (OCT-EU) Forum and Ministerial Conference.

Whilst at the parliamentary office of Mr. Rosindell, the Premier met a delegation from Norfolk Island and received a briefing on the constitutional position of the people of the Norfolk from their former Chief Minister, Mr. Andre Nobbs, and of the change in their constitutional position.

The Honourable Premier also took the opportunity whilst in the UK to meet with the Minister of State for International Development, the Rt. Honourable Lord Bates, to brief the DFID Minister on Montserrat’s priorities (the transformational projects)— the Port, Fibre optics and Geothermal. In respect of all three projects, both parties were in agreement on their current status and the steps being taken.

The meeting was also attended by the Honourable Financial Secretary, Mr. Colin Owen, and Montserrat Government’s UK Representative, Mrs. Janice Panton.
