The Ministry of Communication, Works, Energy and Labour, today launched the ICT Love Connection Programmme. 14 Elderly Residence at the Lookout Community Warden Assisted living will be the recipients of their very own smart phones.
The main objective of this program is for the elderly to connect with loved ones at home and abroad, in a cheap and efficient manner, using whatsapp. Loni Howe ICT Coordinator and other members of the team will next week begin 3 days of training with the elderly on how to use the phones. They will learn all about whatsapp, how to topup their phones, play games, among many other exciting features.
The phones are user friendly, and has inbuilt features suitable for the elderly. They will also use the phone to play brain games to keep their minds sharp and allow them to be social. Special thanks to Social Services and Flow who partnered with us to make this program a reality.
