CROSS SECTION OF GOM EMPLOYEES TO UNDERTAKE PROJECT MANAGEMENT TRAINING

Montserrat’s PMO is not only supporting the delivery of the island’s major projects and programmes, it is also building a sustainable change management capability for Montserrat’s continued development.

To that end, the Office has secured funding to train and certify a cross-section of Government of Montserrat employees in Project Management, through the PMI’s Project Management Professional (PMP) qualification. The first phase of this initiative aims to certify 9 individuals across multiple ministries and departments, involved in the planning, delivery and monitoring of key change activities.

The PMI is a leading worldwide association for the professional development for those involved in portfolio, programme and project management. Earlier this year, the PMO announced a new partnership with the Southern Caribbean Chapter of the PMI to support and build a local community of change agents.

The PMP provides a solid knowledge and language framework for managing the transformational process. Our PMO, in turn, provides contextualized standards, and toolkits for the management of projects in Montserrat, using the PMI, APM, and Axelos systems (to name a few) to create a pragmatic and fit for purpose handbook for our teams on the ground.

Funding for this initiative is provided through the GRID Programme.
